TkScore 3.1 Beta, Release Candidate 4 (3 August 2012):
What is TkScore?
TkScore is a standalone data-entry application which produces TICA show reports
from the minimum amount of information from a marked show catalog. To create a show
report, you do not need a fully-marked catalog--only a catalog which has marked finals pages.
TkScore 3 is the third generation of TICA show report compilers. TkScore 2 was
first released in 1998 and was last revised in 2004. TkScore 3 is a complete re-write
of the application.

(Mac OS X version will be released after beta testing).
- Native look-and-feel (more-or-less) on each platform.
- Can be installed on a hard drive or on removable media (USB drive).
- Optionally install a TkScore shortcut on Start Menu or Desktop.
- Optionally add a file association for
.tks
files.
- Submit a report to ticamembers.org with one click (if Internet is available).
- Remembers preferred window locations.
- Remembers recently-used files.
- Order of rings can be re-arranged.
- Changes to rings, finals and entries are immediately reflected on the report.
- Ring captions can be placed under the judges' names on the roster.
- Eliminated Reset/Cancel/OK buttons on Finals and Entries forms.
- Supports 3-letter breed abbreviations.
- Breed abbreviation selection menu.
- Breed abbreviation checking.
- Breed abbreviation table is automatically updated (if Internet is available).
- Checks for ANB/PNB cats in Championship classes, and vice-versa.
- Checks for Longhair cats in Shorthair Specialty rings, and vice-versa.
- Names table extracted from official standings; names are spelled as they are registered by the Executive Office.
- Names table is automatically updated (if Internet is available).
- Files (
.tks
) are forward- and backward-compatible with TkScore 2.x.
Known Bugs
- The show format presets that were labeled "split format" and "double format"
have been renamed to "continuous format" and "alternative format". If you
open a
.tks
file created by TkScore 2.x that used one of those
presets, none of the preset radiobuttons will be selected. If that happens,
it is best not to click on one of the radiobuttons, as it may change your
show labels, "Saturday AM", "Saturday PM", etc., back to the defaults.
- The "Recent Names" list on the Entries form scrolls to the closest match as
you type the name, but it is not highlighted. You have to use the Up/Down
keys to get the suggested name completion to be highlighted. (Windows XP only)
- Clicking on a name in the "Recent Names" list on the Entries form takes the
focus away from the Name: field. Double-clicking on the name gives
the correct effect. (Windows 7 only).
- After entering names/breeds, you must go back through the Finals pages
to see if any new (breed-dependent) error messages have appeared.
- File menu keyboard accelerators are not working.
- There is no provision for loading an older version BreedCodeTable (even
though older tables exist). Using TkScore with the current BreedCodeTable
to edit show reports from previous show seasons will give spurious warnings
about breeds that have advanced to Championship in 2012. This is harmless,
as the warnings can be ignored, and unlikely to occur, as no one is interested
in modifying show reports from prior show seasons.
This could become a problem, however, the next time breeds advance.
- ANB, PNB and NTR classes are treated as Allbreed, even when they appear
in a Specialty Ring. That in itself is not a bug, as there can only be
one merit rosette, regardless of coat length (TICA Standing Rule 2017.7).
However, it does cause a backward-compatibility problem with
TkScore 2.x--specifically, if you open a
.tks
file
created under TkScore 3.1, the ANB, PNB and NTR awards will not appear.
That will be fixed in a future release.
